A Comparison of the Romantic and 20th Century Eras
Your assignment is to compare and contrast the Romantic and 20th Century Eras in music history. You should include a comparison of style of writing and the major forms of music, along with their development – 10 Marks for each era (this should be the longest of the sections), the orchestras (size and make-up) – 6 Marks, what is happening outside of music that helps define the musical style – 4 Marks. Also, include a one-paragraph biography of 2 composers from each era (include dates of birth and death, marriages, major events, major employment, etc. – 5 Marks each).
You will be marked in Knowledge (60 Marks) and Communication (5 Marks). The knowledge marks will be allotted for having the correct information. The communication marks will be for setting up the assignment in a neat and creative manner. Some suggestions for this assignment might include a PowerPoint presentation, a website (not necessarily published to the web), a traditional essay, etc.
